About this work
Rollers are supposed to stay inside the vertical track. A bump from a mirror, a cable that went slack, or a track bracket that pulled out of wet concrete will let a roller escape. The door then hangs diagonal. That is not a push-it-back job.
Leave the diagonal door where it is
A leaf that is half in and half out can drop once the remaining rollers take a new angle. Cars and people stay out of the opening. If it is blocking the only exit on a lower-Keys street, say that. The plan changes. The physics do not.
The track is checked for why it let go
Bent vertical track, loose lag screws in a salt-softened jamb, or a top fixture that tore through a rusty section are different repairs. Simply popping the roller back into a bowed track repeats the failure on the next cycle.
Narrow Keys driveways
Cudjoe, Summerland, and parts of Old Town do not give a van a straight shot at the opening. The reset is done with the same hardware, but the crew needs to know about a tight lane, a canal on one side, or a door that faces a shared easement.
Symptoms that belong on a Back on the track note
A roller that has left the vertical track, a track that has pulled off the jamb, or a door that rubs one side the whole way down is the rail symptom.
What gets checked on a Back on the track visit
Vertical and horizontal track, the jamb lag, the rollers, and the hinges are checked as a line. Forcing the roller back into a bent vertical track repeats the jump.
Parts, brands, and this coast
Track sections, rollers, hinges, and the fasteners into the jamb are the parts. A bent vertical piece is not straightened into a promise. Sectionals from Amarr, Clopay, and Wayne Dalton all ride this hardware. The brand of the leaf does not forgive a loose jamb. Wind on an island door can walk a lag out of soft wood. A struck South Dade door more often bends the vertical track from a car or a falling object. The note should say which story you have.
How Back on the track is planned on this map
A vertical track walked off a soft jamb is a familiar island story from Sugarloaf to Tavernier, where wind works the lags. A bent vertical track in Naranja or Goulds is more often a strike. Neither is fixed by muscling the roller back in. The town buttons keep that difference attached to the address instead of to a generic rail photo. A loose lag in soft island wood is a different load-out from a bent vertical track after a strike.
Common questions
Can I tap the roller back in with a mallet?
No. The spring is still loaded, and a roller that left once will leave again if the cause is still there.
Will the sections be reusable?
If they are straight and the hinges still hold, yes. A section that creased when the door twisted is a section job, not a track job.
Which towns use this trade?
The town buttons on this page cover the Keys and the South Dade approach. Pick the town so the note is not only a symptom.
What should wait until someone is at the opening?
Vertical and horizontal track, the jamb lag, the rollers, and the hinges are checked as a line.
