Lower Keys
Big Coppitt lots are small, and the doors face canals.
About this area
Big Coppitt sits between Key West and the Torch keys, largely built out, with houses close to their neighbors and many openings aimed at a canal. There is no downtown to use as a landmark. The useful landmark is the cut you live on and whether the door is under the house.
- Road
- US-1 frontage with residential streets behind
- Housing
- Raised homes and canal-front houses on small lots
- Constraint
- Little room to lay a full track on the driveway
Canal-front bottom seals
Doors that face a canal take humid air all night. The bottom seal flattens and the lower section blisters while the top section still looks fine. Tell us if the rust is only on the bottom. That is often a section job, not a whole new leaf.
Laying track takes space
Replacing track needs a place to set the old vertical rail. On a Big Coppitt apron that place may be the street. Say if the street is the only option so the stop is planned with that in mind.
Common questions
Is Boca Chica included in this page?
The residential doors on Big Coppitt are the subject. The air station itself is not a service address this page describes.
Do deer change the visit the way they do on Big Pine?
No. Big Coppitt does not have Big Pine's refuge constraints. The local issue is lot size and spray.
