Middle Keys
Duck Key has one way in, and the houses face dug canals.
About this area
Duck Key was built as a series of canals and residential islands, with a resort presence and private houses sharing the same geography. There is a single access rhythm off US-1. Overhead doors on the houses see salt from the basins and a lot of golf-cart traffic. The door itself is still a residential sectional.
- Road
- One primary access from US-1 onto the island network
- Housing
- Canal-front houses on a dredged layout
- Constraint
- A wrong turn on the island network loses time before any tool comes out
Give the island or the drive name
Duck Key's internal names matter more than 'near the resort.' A crew that reaches the resort has not reached a house two canals over.
Salt plus irrigation
Lawns here are watered, and some doors take sprinkler hit as well as basin air. White scale and green staining at the bottom seal can be both. Mention a sprinkler that hits the door.
