Lower Keys
Key West is the end of US-1, and the hardware knows it.
About this area
Old Town streets were not drawn for a service van with spring bars on the roof. Newer fill on the east side of the island is more open and just as salty. A door here ages from chloride and from sun on a west wall, not from the subdivision cycle-count that dominates Kendall.
- Road
- US-1 ends; North Roosevelt and White Street carry the local runs
- Housing
- Wood cottages, cistern-era houses, and raised concrete homes
- Constraint
- A missed part is a drive back up the Keys, not a loop around the block
Old Town versus the newer fill
A wood sectional on a shaded lane off Whitehead needs different finish care than a steel leaf on a raised house out toward Stock Island. Headroom in a cottage can be a beam you cannot move. Say which part of the island the opening is on, and whether the van has to stop on a one-way street.
Salt at the bottom corner
Even a door that looks painted from the street often hides scale on the bottom fixture. That is the part to mention if the door has started lifting one side first. Do not pull the cable back onto the drum while you wait for a callback.
Common questions
Can I look at doors before the visit?
Tell us the style you have in mind when you call. We measure the opening at the house.
Is a golf-cart-only lane a problem?
It can be. Say if the opening is on a lane the van cannot enter. The crew will stage from the nearest place a truck can stand.
