Garage Door Panel Repair in Key Largo

Request this service+1 (645) 256-1794

Key Largo is long enough that a panel note without a mile marker only guesses which end of the island you mean. Open bays under the house and closed garages both exist, and basin salt treats them differently. The low panel on an open bay lives almost outside. One damaged section can be changed while the undamaged leaf remains up. A light dent may be left, while repair follows a hinge crease, a split stile, or rust you can push through. Name the marker and the bay type on site.

Basin salt below

Standing water on an open bay carries basin salt, and the skin can blister from the bottom while top panels look painted. A closed garage sees less of that film and still sees rain held at the seal. Rust that a finger pushes through should be repaired. The new bay panel usually gets a fresh seal. If the panel above is soft as well, the leaf may be finished, if salt has climbed past the seal, so mention that climb.

Open bay or closed garage

Say which building you have before the damage, because an open bay puts the section, the hinges, and the seal in the weather, while a closed garage keeps a similar door in a drier room. The match itself does not change. Height, hinge pattern, skin, and thickness have to agree with the panels that remain. An edge stamp, or a photo of it, avoids a section ordered for the wrong height. Either building is measured on site before the order.

Dent or a failed section

Intact steel with a shallow dent can remain on either kind of bay. Repair the panel when the crease sits in a hinge, when a stile has split, or when rust pushes through. Impact shows up on doors that face a parking pad. Salt shows up at the bottom, more often on the open bays. Count upward from the floor. A wood face is a different match from steel, so say wood if you have it, and the finish matters on wood.

Rated stacks

Basin exposure does not let an ordinary skin stand in for the panel a rated stack requires, on an open bay or inside a closed garage. Say the door was sold as rated before the section is specified. Windows and a low beam under the house change which panels exist, and a photo of the whole leaf from inside shows that along with the damage. Hard sun will not hide a new panel, and a proper fit in the stack is the goal.

Marker, side, and the call

Give the mile marker or the subdivision, and which side of the highway. Say open bay or closed garage, which panel, and whether the skin is creased, split, or soft. The callback sets the visit with those facts in hand. A section ordered for the wrong height wastes the length of the island. The marker keeps that stop on the right stretch of road. Name the mile marker again with the highway side and name the cross street there too.

Common questions

Why does a mile marker belong in the note?

The island is long, so the marker or the subdivision places the opening, and the side of the road belongs with it. Height and hinge pattern are measured at the door. That keeps the measure local to your end of the island and the correct side.

How does an open bay differ from a closed garage?

Basin salt and standing water reach the low panel of an open bay directly. A closed garage keeps more of the leaf dry, though the bottom can rust where rain sits at the seal. The new section has to match.

What goes on with a new Key Largo bottom panel?

A replacement bottom usually includes a new bottom seal, because the old rubber shared the water and the salt with the skin. Softness above the bad panel means the leaf may be finished. A seal alone will not finish a soft leaf.
