Weather Seal Repair in Marathon
Daylight under a Marathon door, or a torn seal the door has started to drag, is a seal repair before it is a new door. The city mixes interior slab garages with canal-street bays, some of them under the house. Water streets take salt at the bottom edge. Interior streets take heat, and the seal there fails from age and from a down limit that stops the door short of the floor. The Seven Mile Bridge at the west end changes the order of a day. It does not change which edge of the door is torn.
Three edges, and what each one means
Look at the bottom astragal, the jamb seals, and the top seal. A gap the full width of the door is a different note from a gap at one corner. A door that has started to chew a loose jamb seal can often be corrected without a new leaf. Say whether the rubber is split, missing, or still present and simply flat. Say whether you can push a finger through the panel behind it.
What we replace, and what we leave
We replace the seal that failed and check that the door meets the floor evenly. A straight door with a torn bottom gets a new astragal and keeps its leaf. A soft bottom section becomes a panel repair, and the new seal goes on the new panel. Jamb seals that the door has shredded are replaced, and the track is checked so the new vinyl is not eaten on the next cycle. The top seal is replaced when daylight shows there, which is less common and still part of the same edge visit.
Interior streets and canal streets
Say which one you have in the first sentence. A canal-street opening is often at grade and salty. An interior opening is often a normal slab garage that happens to be in Marathon. The bridge is a planning fact for the west end of the city, not a meeting place and not a cause of a torn seal. If a car is trapped because the door will not seal and will not close, say the car is trapped. We still set the visit on the phone.
What the note should contain
Interior or canal. Which edge is torn. Whether the metal behind the rubber is solid. Whether the door stops short of the floor. The street. Daylight all the way across, or one corner. A photo in daylight, from inside, showing the gap, is the useful picture.
Form or phone
A door that is down, with daylight underneath and no one blocked, can use the form. A door that will not close, or that is up over a canal-street walk, should be a call. We return the call to set the Marathon visit, and the interior-or-canal fact is what we listen for.

Common questions
Light under the door means I need a new door, right?
Usually it means a worn bottom seal or a down limit that stops the door short. A new door is the conversation when the sections themselves are finished.
The seal is torn and the bottom panel is rusty. Which visit is this?
If the rubber is gone and the panel is solid, it is a seal. If you can push through the panel, it is a section repair and the seal is installed on the new panel.
Will a new bottom seal stop water in a storm?
It closes the daylight gap and sheds ordinary rain and wash. It is not a flood barrier and it is not a wind rating.
