Weather Seal Repair in Key West
Salt and sun work on these seals, on cottage doors and on doors at houses built on raised fill. A narrow or one-way lane changes where a van can stand, and it does not change which edge tore. Daylight under the leaf, or rubber split by that weather, is a seal repair before a new door is discussed. Cottages may have an uneven old floor, while a raised house may leave the opening in the weather. Say which building you have, and name the failed edge, before you describe how tight the lane is.
Cottage floors and raised openings
A cottage floor is often uneven, so one side of the astragal seats and the other shows light. A raised house puts the bottom seal in salt and sun, and both are seal jobs when sections are true. The lane only decides where the van stages, not whether the rubber or the panel failed.
Three edges in salt and sun
The bottom astragal takes the salt and the sun, and the jamb seals take the rub in a tight cottage. The top seal is replaced when light shows along it, not because the bottom happened to look tired. Say whether the rubber is split, missing, or hard and flat, so the failed piece is named.
An old floor and the down limit
A door that stops short wears the seal, and an uneven cottage floor leaves one side hanging in the light. The down limit is set to the floor that is there, not to an imagined level slab. The track is checked so a new jamb seal is not chewed by a door that rides to one side.
Soft skin along the bottom
Metal gone soft behind the rubber needs a panel, and salt opens that skin first at the bottom corner. Upper sections can still look painted while the corner has lost the metal a clip needs. The seal goes on the new panel, and sections that remain straight stay rather than being changed for color.
Ordinary water at the edge
The seal sheds ordinary water, the rain and the splash a normal day throws at the edge. It is not a flood system or a wind rating, and salt air does not turn the rubber into either. If the opening takes tide or surge water, say that so the job is not planned as a simple gap.

Common questions
Does light on one side of a cottage floor mean a new door?
An uneven floor and a short down limit can leave daylight even when the seal is still usable. The visit sets the travel and replaces a torn edge, and straight sections on the cottage stay. The lane does not change that choice, because a narrow street is about the van, not the leaf.
Can the edge be sealed when the house is raised?
The failed edge can be replaced so it sheds ordinary water, and an open opening stays open. The seal is not a flood system or a wind rating for a house on raised fill. Say that the house is raised, and say if the lane is narrow, so the stop matches the building.
Is a salt-opened bottom corner a seal or a panel?
Torn rubber over solid metal is a seal, and soft metal behind it is a panel with a new seal. Upper sections that are still straight stay, even when sun has faded them beside the new skin. Describe the corner without digging at it, and say whether the house is a cottage or on raised fill.
