Wi-Fi Opener Setup in Princeton
Wi-Fi setup is for a wall button that runs the door while the phone does not. It is also for an owner who wants the opener on the house network. Some models include Wi-Fi, and some only accept a manufacturer accessory made for that cover. The password is entered at the house, it does not go on the form, and there is no monitoring plan.
Why the phone and the wall button disagree
The usual call is a phone that shows the door offline while the wall button still opens and closes it. An accessory can add that link only when the maker built one for the model on the ceiling. A wrong password or a weak signal at the opener looks like a dead radio. A new owner may want the app on a cover that has no network radio at all.
What you can confirm before anyone joins the network
Confirm the wall button still runs the door through a full open and close. Check lock on the wall console, because a locked console can confuse an app that expects the door to move. Write the network name down at the house, and keep the password off the form. Never touch the springs, the cables, or the set screws while you test the wall button.
Joining the opener that is actually installed
The model is read to see whether Wi-Fi is built in or needs the maker's accessory. The accessory is installed only when that model has one from the maker. The password is typed at the house and is not stored on the request. Limits and photo eyes are checked so app is not asked to move a door that is out of balance. A heavy door is weighed, and the springs are addressed before the radio is blamed for a stall.
Password accessory and a power cut
The password stays in the house, typed into the opener or the app while standing at the unit. There is no monitoring plan and no remote watch on the door from our side. An accessory from the wrong brand, or a hub the maker did not specify, is not installed. A battery pack, if the model has one, is a separate question from the network join.
Signal in a hot slab bay
The opener hangs in an unconditioned slab garage under a hot roof, often with a metal door between it and the router. Lots along US-1 and deeper lots toward farmland put the opener far from the house router. The join still happens at the unit, and the warmth is a clue when the board restarts on hot afternoons. Say whether the wall button works and only the phone is offline.

Common questions
Why does the wall button work when the phone does not?
The wall button is wired to the opener, and the phone depends on Wi-Fi that the model may not have. A locked console, a wrong password, or a weak signal at the ceiling can leave the app offline.
Where is the Wi-Fi password entered?
The password is entered at the house, on the opener or in the app, and it does not go on the form. Keep the password at the house, because the request form is the wrong place for it.
Will the phone run the door during a power cut?
Wi-Fi does not move a door during a power cut, because the network and the opener lose power together. A battery pack, on a model that has one, can still travel the door without the phone. The wall button is the control to test once power is back.
