Photo-Eye Repair in Palmetto Bay
Palmetto Bay garages sit on deep lots, many of them shaded, and a few of them face a canal behind the house. The photo eyes are still the small pair a few inches off the floor, and they still have to see each other before a remote is allowed to close the door. Shade changes what breaks that beam. It does not change the rule.
What you can see without a ladder
With the door fully open, look for the indicator on each eye. Pass your foot through the beam and see whether the light changes. If it does not, the eyes are misaimed, blocked, or unpowered, and you have already learned the useful fact. Move a broom or a bin only if you can do it from the floor. Wipe the lens with a damp cloth rather than a dry paper towel, which scratches the cover and makes the next sunny hour worse.
How the visit is organized
We start at the eyes and we do not start at the cash drawer. Aim, power, and the wire back to the operator come before a new pair is installed. Canal-front houses sometimes have the wire run along a sill that stays damp, and a corroded splice there imitates a failed sensor. Shaded houses more often need the lenses cleaned and the brackets squared after something in the garage has bumped them.
Deep lots and canal lots
Old Cutler Road and the village interior streets are how we find the house. A long drive is easy to stage on. A circular drive that should stay clear is worth mentioning so the van is not the thing blocking the front door while we work at the back. Most Palmetto Bay openings are enclosed garages that happen to be near water. If yours is actually under a raised floor, say that. The eyes then share the space with headlights and weather, and the bracket height matters more.
What belongs in the message
The cross street, the facing of the door, and which control still works. The brand on the operator if you know it. Whether anyone has already replaced the opener and left the old eyes in place, because a mismatched pair will not learn good manners from a new head. If the village or the association cares about the look of hardware on the jamb, say what the constraint is so the housing we leave matches it.
Calling versus the form
A door that is open and will not close on a house where that is the only way to the rooms should be a phone call. A door that is shut, and merely ignores the remote, can wait on the form. We call back to set the Palmetto Bay visit, and we would rather have the canal-or-street fact in the note than discover it after we have loaded for the wrong exposure.

Common questions
Why does the wall button close the door when the remote will not?
Holding the button is a constant-pressure close that bypasses the photo-eye check. The remote will not do that.
Is it acceptable to hold the button every time?
One careful cycle to free a car is reasonable. Living that way means the entrapment check is off.
The door reverses a foot above the floor. Is that the sensors?
Sometimes. It can also be the down limit or a bind in the track as the door meets an uneven Palmetto Bay slab.
