Opener Battery Backup in Marathon
Battery backup in Marathon lets the door move during a power cut, and the model decides which pack fits. It is not a generator for the house, and we do not promise how many cycles you will get. A heavy or unbalanced door exhausts a pack quickly, so the springs are checked. Wi-Fi does not work in an outage, even when the pack can still move the door. The visit is the pack, the terminals, and a test with the power removed at the opener.
What the pack is for
The pack is there to run the opener through a power cut, not to light the house. How many cycles you get depends on the model, the door weight, and the charge. We do not promise a number, because a tired door can empty a fresh pack. The cover model is what says whether a pack is built in or added on. A unit with no provision for a pack cannot be given one by wish.
Heavy doors empty the pack
An unbalanced door makes the motor work hard, and the pack pays for every inch. Springs that are tired will exhaust a backup long before a balanced door would. We weigh the door and correct the springs when that is why the pack dies. A larger pack is not a cure for a door the springs have given up. The test is a few real cycles with the opener unplugged, not a guess from the light.
Wi-Fi during an outage
The phone and the app go quiet when the router and the opener lose utility power. A pack may still run the door from the wall button or from a hand control. Wi-Fi does not come back just because the pack still has charge in it. We say that plainly so the outage plan is the button, not the phone. When utility power returns, the network may need to be joined again at the house.
Which pack the model allows
Some openers have a bay for a specific pack, and other models have none at all. The model stamp is how the correct pack is chosen, not a drawer of similar packs. Terminals are cleaned and the pack is seated so it actually takes a charge. A pack that will not hold a charge is replaced with the one that model lists. We test the charge and a power-cut cycle before the visit is called done.
Outages on open and closed bays
Canal-front houses and interior blocks in Marathon lose power in the same storms. Some homes park at grade under the living floor, so the opener and the pack sit in open air. Humidity and salt on those bays can corrode terminals and shorten what a pack can do. The highway is not the driveway, and the pack is matched to the opener at the house. An open bay needs clean terminals, and an interior opener needs the same model match.

The pack runs the opener only, and the rest of the house stays dark in an outage. We do not promise how many door cycles a given pack will provide. A heavy door uses the charge up much faster than a balanced one.
Does the phone work if the power is out?
Wi-Fi does not work in an outage even if a pack can move the door. Use the wall button or a hand control while the power is out. The app comes back only after utility power and the router return.
How do you choose the right backup pack?
The opener model decides the pack, and a similar pack from another brand is not assumed to fit. We read the stamp and seat the pack the maker lists for it. A test with the opener unplugged shows whether the door still moves.
