Keypad and Remote Repair in Palmetto Bay
This work covers a dead hand control or a new keypad. Batteries, the learn routine, and rolling code versus older radios are the usual causes. The wall button is the clue: if it runs the door, the opener itself may be fine. This is not a locksmith job, nor a code for a community gate. A working remote is left in memory unless you ask for it to be cleared.
Dead remote or tired keypad
A dead remote with a live wall button is often batteries or a lost code. A keypad that still opens the door shows the opener and the radio path can function. Older openers and current ones learn differently, which is why a new remote may not copy the old. Rolling code units expect a learn step, and a fixed older code is a different radio. People also call when they want a keypad added and the transmitters they have should stay.
Batteries and the learn button
Replace the remote batteries and the keypad batteries before you assume the opener forgot you. Try the wall button so you know whether the door itself still travels. Find the learn button on the opener only if you are comfortable, and stop if the door moves unexpectedly. Never touch the springs, the cables, or the set screws while you handle the controls. Do not wipe every remote from memory unless you mean to teach them all again.
Learn without wiping memory
We teach the remote or keypad with the learn routine for that opener. A working remote stays in memory unless you ask for that slot to be cleared. If a control was lost, a new one can be added without erasing the others. The keypad code is chosen by you at the house, and it is not written on the form. We test the code you pick and show how to change it from the keypad.
Rolling code and older radios
The opener cover tells whether the radio is rolling code or an older fixed system. A new remote has to match that radio, and a package from another brand may not learn. Keypads follow the same rule: the accessory has to be the one that opener can hear. Clearing memory is a separate choice, useful when a lost remote should no longer work. The wall button remains the test that the motor and the rail are healthy.
Shaded garages and keypads
Palmetto Bay keypads live on enclosed slab garages on shaded lots. Humidity can corrode a keypad battery door, and shade does not pick the radio type. Houses near canals keep enclosed garages, not open docks, and the keypad is a door control. It does not open a community gate, and that code is a different system. Say if the opener is an older unit so the learn step matches what is on the rail.

Common questions
Why does the keypad work when my small remote does nothing?
A live keypad and a dead remote usually mean batteries or a remote that lost its link. The wall button, if it runs the door, shows the opener and the rail are fine. Fresh batteries come before the opener memory is cleared and taught again.
Can you add a keypad without erasing the other transmitters I still use?
A new keypad or remote can be learned without wiping the controls that still work. Memory is cleared only when you ask, for example after a remote was lost. The code you want is chosen at the house and tested before we leave.
Is this repair the same as a locksmith visit or a gate code?
The work is the opener radio: batteries, the learn routine, and the keypad on that unit. House locks and community gates stay entirely outside this repair. A working wall button is what shows the opener itself can still travel.
